Gritstone dry stone wall

The original church boundary wall was lime mortared at a standard field wall height. The brief was to rebuild shorter as dry stone with mortared copestones.

This was the first project I worked on after relocating from Yorkshire to Bacup thanks to Phil Caton. I joined halfway through the project - all 120 metres of it.

Very dense gritstone made for
A good setting to practice dry stone basics while receiving guidance from a natural mentor whose work ethics are second to none.

The result was a very sturdy random coursed gritstone dwarf field wall which sits comfortably its surroundings.

Thanks Phil - you are legend.
