Hebden Bridge
Retaining dry stone wall
The total wall face area for this wall was not much to consider. Everything else certainly was. As seen in the pictures, the original wall was well weathered and in a serious state in a few places.
Moving and storing the large gritstone 'boulders' above the retaining wall was a real challenge due to the limited work space at the base of the wall. Thankfully the footings were not part of that move. In the end the retained earth removed during stripping filled five bulk bags, also stored above the wall.
While very steep, this was a very lovely garden to work in. The garden itself was designed, created and maintained by the very passionate clients. Rebuilding garden retaining dry stone wall with this lovely stone was made all the more pleasant by their encouragement and hospitable involvement throughout. Thank you. Thanks too, to all who passed-by and lent a hand at various stages.
